Testimonials

“Puget Sound Rigging replaced the standing rigging and jib furler on our 1978 Ericson 27 after a forestay failure early in 2022. Andrew and Mike were prompt, professional and fantastic to work with. They quickly assessed our situation and patiently worked through various scenarios, balancing safety, budget, performance and schedule. They were willing to educate as they worked, and were flexible in their approach including using an alternative we suggested for unstepping and restepping the mast that saved several hundred dollars. They facilitated and advised on a variety of other mast-related projects and maintenance items we did ourselves while the mast was down, saving us time and money. We will be using Puget Sound Rigging for all our rigging needs going forward..”

“Prompt, professional, friendly service, I’m a fan! The very next day after I reached out, Andrew was out on our Catalina 30 to retrieve the main halyard which we had lost up the mast. The shackle had failed, he replaced it. While he was at it, he sprayed lube into the main track, then tuned our rig which had been replaced a while back and needed tightening up. All around outstanding work!”

— Luke Celt, Seattle WA, 1987 Catalina 30 Mk II s/v Avanti

“Absolutely great service! We needed new standing rigging and furler servicing this summer, and Andrew and Mike could not have made this easier for us! We're so grateful, it would not have gotten done if we'd had to do it ourselves, and we know from the detailed photos they sent that our boat was in good hands.”

“Mike did an excellent job replacing the running rigging on my C&C 30 II. He assessed standing rigging with a great tune up as well. Mike definitely has the knowledge and skill to do the job! He was very responsive to my questions and worked around my schedule, which was highly appreciated. I highly recommend Puget Sound Rigging to do your next job.”

— Phil Brockman, Des Moines WA - C&C 30 II, Cacafuego

“Very pleased with the job. Replaced all of the standing rigging while the boat was on its trailer at my home. Corrected some longstanding problems. Good to work with.”

— Steven Marcotte, Lake Tapps WA - Ranger 20, Salish Sea

“Mike and Andrew came through right on time for a short lead time order on new traveler and main sheet for our 1969 Hinckley 38. The splices were beautiful with an almost invisible tapers. This was the second opportunity to have them help us get ready for the year, previously some work aloft. A great bunch to work with and I will gladly have them back to the boat again as the needs arise.”

— Steve Flowers, Seattle WA - 1969 Hinckley 38, La Rondine

“This is the second time I used Puget Sound Rigging. First time was a rigging inspection that Mike did, it was done thoroughly and professionally. Mike found the stays loose and tightened them to spec. This time it was to install a new roller furler. Both Andrew and Mike did a great job, showed up on time, kept me informed of the job progress and installed a beautiful Selden furler. They were nice enough to offer a drop off service at the sailmaker for me. That saved me a trip to Seattle and was an added bonus. I would highly recommend them, in fact I’m having them replace my lifelines next.”

— Jim Hollis, Port Orchard WA - 1979 Cape Dory Intrepid 9m, Dauntless

“Many thanks to Puget Sound Rigging for the professional replacement of Capella’s standing rigging and a new headsail roller furler -- with the mast on the boat. Very high marks for attention to detail and answering many questions. I fully recommend them! Going forward, my good old boat is newly ready for safe and reliable sailing. Again, my thanks to Andrew and Mike! Fair winds.”

— Rick Shepler, Everett WA - 1980 Cal 25 MKII, Capella

“We needed a complete replacement of all standing rigging. Andrew took the time to look at the boat and quickly give us an astute estimate. Andrew and Mike were prompt in all of our encounters. They took care of all the sundry details, and I feel they did more than what was required under their bid. I would highly recommend Andrew and Mike without reservation. They exemplify professionalism, courtesy, and dedication to their craft.”

— Fred Hauptmann, Oregon - 1990 Catalina 34

“Andrew and Mike saved the day. We had discovered our main halyard cheek block was way undersized and they found us a safe working load, flip flop block and Andrew installed it so we could keep to our plan to head to Alaska on neap tides. We also added new halyards and are so pleased by Mike’s excellent splicing work and line choice for loads. Top notch. Do not hesitate to call them. They really compliment each other and communicate well.”

— Sam Skaggs and Amy Volz, Sitka AK - Nordic 46 S/V HighLight

“Thanks to Puget Sound Rigging for their great support for my mast unstepping, de-rigging, and packaging for shipping across the country. The rigging assessment and tuning before we de-rigged will make it much easier to get my boat back in action quickly at her destination. Thanks again!”

— Dan Sowder, Seattle WA - 1988 Cabo Rico 38XL full keel cutter, S/V Yonder

— John Langmeyer, Seattle WA - San Juan 24, Captain America

“For a first time boat owner, Andrew and Mike were extremely knowledgeable and willing to share. In a couple of hours my rig was tuned and I picked up a bunch of advice. Thanks.”

— Peter O’Donoghue, Seattle WA - 1968 Trintella 29, Stella

“Excellent work! Fast, thorough, and reasonably priced.”

— Kevin D. O’Leary, Seattle WA - Cape Dory 30, Allegro

“Thanks for the repairs and improvements to my rig, backstay and lifelines. Mike was great, he replaced several halyards, rebuilt my backstay arrangement, replaced all the lifelines and tuned up my rig. He took time to explain everything to me and now I have confidence in my rigging instead of wondering what problems might be lurking undetected. Very happy with the work and would highly recommend Puget Sound Rigging.”

— Steve White, Seattle WA - San Juan 24

“Looking for professional rigging? Hire Mike and Andrew. Mike was just on my boat to replace the spreader boots, not only did he replace the boots, he cleaned the spreaders and looked at my mast head light for some upcoming repairs. They came in under budget and the work was absolutely FIRST CLASS! Thank you Mike for a job well done.”

— Steve Jones, Gig Harbor WA - Catalina 30, Essie J II

“As any sailboat owner knows, no matter how perfect any given boat is, there are always going to be changes and tweaks that you'll want to make, so it suits your needs. In my case, I decided that for my fourth sailboat, I wanted to get a mid-size competitive one-design race boat and make it capable of single and short-handed sailing.

I put together my list of "must-do" projects to realize that goal, and as someone that is typically DIY for most projects, I researched the cost, process and layout to achieve these goals. I shared these plans and requirements with Andrew, and he and I collaborated on the best way to not only get there, but also how we could keep the budget in line.

He and I worked together to address all safety, performance and maintenance goals, and in the end, the total cost was less than just the cost of hardware I thought I needed, had I completed all projects on my own. Not only did I achieve my goals, I saved money and was able to collaborate with a professional. But most importantly, I appreciated the opportunity to work with someone that was a partner throughout the process, rather than someone that simply wanted to sell me something and run up a bill.

I have nothing against the big-name houses here in Seattle that I've worked with in the past, but I will say: Working with Andrew, you get the same quality result, at a very fair cost, and complete transparency of all options and costs involved with absolutely no pressure.

I feel like Andrew truly listens to, and understands my goals as a sailor, and I never felt pressured or rushed to spend unnecessarily. This is important to me, and I'm very happy with the work that he has done for me so far.

I strongly recommend him for those times when you need a patient and collaborative partner as you approach your rigging projects, and would rather not be bothered by a biased sales pitch or someone trying to sell you what you don't need.

Highly recommended.”
